Overview

It took Mr. Espejo 30 years to receive his identity document; Elvis has had to carry a photo on his ID that isn't his own, waiting for his turn to finally renew it. In this short film, we learn about the delays, efforts, and confusion in acquiring a Peruvian ID, told by members of the ancient Awajún people. The recorded testimonies reflect on the meaning of identity and the different ways of being Peruvian in a country with 47 languages. "Aents: Identity and Territory" highlights the relevance of diverse Peruvian identities within the framework of the country's 200-year history as a republic.
