Bruno Baillargeon was born in Montreal in 1962. He earned a master's degree in comparative literature from the Université de Montréal in 1991. He was a script consultant and technical director on Le soleil et ses traces (1989), a fiction film co-directed by Louis Bélanger and Denis Chouinard. In 1990, he founded Productions Malachie. The following year, he wrote and co-directed a fiction film with Louis Bélanger entitled Les Galeries Wilderton.
