April Nixon is a stage and screen actress. She is an Olivier, Elliot Norton, AUDELCO, and Ovation Award nominee. Her performances include Damn Yankees (the first African American 'Lola' opposite Jerry Lewis), The Dancer’s Life (opposite Chita Rivera), Smokey Joe’s Cafe, 9 to 5, Fosse, The Wiz, Cats, The Who’s Tommy, Mamma Mia!, Sistas, Crowns, Sweet Charity, Caroline, or Change, and Dreamgirls. Her TV appearances include Law & Order, Law & Order: Special Victims Unit, Law & Order: Criminal Intent, Chapelle’s Show, and The Wire.
