    Biography

    Đặng Hữu Phúc (b. 4 June, 1953 in Phú Thọ province) is a Vietnamese composer and pianist, currently a professor in composition at the Vietnam National Academy of Music. He has composed for piano in various styles, from classique to avant garde and also vocal music. Some of his best known works include "Bunches of Flowers of Vietnam" (Chùm hoa Việt Nam, 2009); "Winter Lullaby" (Ru con mùa đông, Ái Vân, 1995); and award-winning scores for stage plays as well as feature films. He has also written promotional articles for professional Vietnamese music and controversial commentary pieces on the current climate of Vietnamese music. In 2005, Đặng Hữu Phúc won the Jinjue Award for Best Music at the 8th International Film Festival in Shanghai.
