Biography

Ethernet Wang is an American woman. She is also a film director, a trans woman, and a second‑generation Chinese‑American immigrant. Wang views filmmaking as a practice of community-building and stewardship. Based in the experimental and hybrid-documentary filmmaking traditions, she uses a research- and rehearsal-based process to tell stories of life and love in a dying empire. She received an MFA in Film and Video from California Institute of the Arts in 2025, and a BS in Statistics & Machine Learning from Carnegie Mellon University in 2021. Wang now makes films with her production company DISASSEMBLY.
