Emmett Swann is an award-winning writer, director, producer, and editor whose work blends atmospheric tension, character-driven storytelling, and a lifelong love of horror. He began writing during the pandemic as a creative experiment, but the desire to bring his ideas to life quickly led him to found Duckwood Productions, a filmmaking partnership rooted in the combined names of Swann (Duck) and his producer Jacob Oakes (Wood). Swann has written, directed, and edited four short films-It Comes For You, Agent GB, The Other, and the upcoming Out of Sight-and has also produced additional narrative work, including the dramatic short Self-Talk. His films have screened at festivals across the United States and internationally, receiving recognition for acting, sound design, cinematography, and genre excellence. His debut, It Comes For You, was featured in the First-Time Filmmaker Sessions Liftoff Film Festival and became a Semi-Finalist at the Student World Impact Film Festival (SWIFF). His follow-up, Agent GB, expanded his presence on the festival circuit, earning selections at Bleedingham Horror Film Festival, Wasteland Film Festival, Louisville’s International Festival of Film, Dead City Film Fest, Cosmic Film Festival, and Centre Film Festival-as well as awards from INFLUX Film Awards, the American Golden Picture International Film Festival, 8 & Halfilm Awards, and the World Premiere Film Awards. His more recent work behind the scenes includes producing, editing, assistant directing, and color grading the dramatic short Self-Talk, now in festival circulation. His fourth project, Out of Sight, is completed and awaiting release. Swann’s latest horror short, The Other, his homage to John Carpenter's 1982 classic The Thing, further developed his signature blend of intimate tension, practical-world settings Across each film, Swann continues to explore themes of psychological dread, vulnerability, and the uncanny-crafting atmospheric stories that focus on mood, character, and slow-burn suspense. His latest work builds upon everything he’s learned in his filmmaking journey, pushing deeper into the emotionally resonant horror that defines his creative voice.
