After her mother died when she was seven, she and her father moved to Newport Beach, California, where Brittany was a swimmer and even considered making swimming her life. After her graduation in 1995, Brittany earned a swimming scholarship to attend Middlebury College in Vermont. Surprisingly, Brittany turned it down, hoping to become a dancer in the Los Angeles area.
