Biography

Shunika Terry is an American hair department head. Born and raised in Dallas, Texas, she began styling hair as a teenager. She earned her cosmetology license while still in high school. She later studied Business Administration at the University of North Texas. After building a foundation in salon work and period hairstyling, she transitioned into the film industry, receiving her first independent feature credit on Kings of the Evening (2008). Her film credits include Game Night (2018), Bad Boys for Life (2020), and The Matrix Resurrections (2021). In television, her work includes House of Cards (2013), Atlanta (2016), and the limited series Mare of Easttown (2021). She received a Primetime Emmy Award nomination in 2021 for Outstanding Contemporary Hairstyling for Mare of Easttown (2021), for the episode "Sore Must Be the Storm" (2021), shared with Lawrence Davis, Lydia Bensimmon, and Ivana Primorac. She was nominated for Make-Up Artists & Hair Stylists Guild Awards for House of Cards (2013) in 2015, for The Matrix Resurrections (2021) in 2022, and again in 2022 for Mare of Easttown (2021), each shared with her respective teams. Her feature film work on Sinners (2025) received a Critics' Choice Award nomination in 2026 for Best Hair & Makeup and an Astra Creative Arts Award nomination in 2025 for Best Makeup and Hairstyling, both shared with Sian Richards, Ken Diaz, and Michael Fontaine.
